American Dreams
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007I watched American Idol few minutes ago, (for those who had just came back from Mars, it’s finale, and FYI, Melinda Doolittle was out) Simon addressed tonight’s performances as between the best performer (Blake Lewis) vs. the best vocal (Jordin Sparks), which I agreed. I concluded tonight’s finale as boring and it was like normal concert, where the finale’s feel was not even there. And I am not saying this to include both finalists performances because I think they were simply awesome.
1. Blake sang You Give Love A Bad Name which I thought the best performance ever by Blake. He chose the right song, and off course he did that boxing kinda thing which I found to be unique. Jordin sang Fighter by Christina Aguilera, and I think she did not blew me away since Christina Aguilera had set up a very high standard in that song and remained undefeated by Jordin’s version. First round, obviously went to Blake.
2. Blake sang She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5, not bad at all, nothing wrong, just boring. He committed no fault but again, his performance was boring. Jordin sang A Broken. At first I found the song to be a little bit slow and boring , but she catched me at the second half and I am of the opinion she won the second round.
3. Both of them sang apa ntah tajuk lagu dia… It’s My Now kot, correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, I sensed injustice here since the song was meant only for Jordin because it was a typical ballad, not in Blake’s range of music. Off course, the third round we witnessed Jordin’s victory. Siap dah nangis cam confirm menang je Jordin ni…
I think Jordin’s gonna win the finale based on the final concert performances. But I wished she sang I Who Had Nothing or that Bee Gees’ song - To Love Somebody rather than Christina’s Fighter.
Well, they had achieved their dreams- to become American Idols, speaking of dreams, everybody had their own dreams, and some was simply unattainable. I wished I will be okay. Please pray for me, dear friend…
